UFZ: Changes to use site pids

The following discussion from !376 (merged) should be addressed:

  If you see nothing that needs to be changed from my side, then you can add the UFZ changes here as well.

  Otherwise it could be better to have an extra branch for the UFZ changes, so that we can fix something in the meantime without running a lot into out of sync remote branches.
