Connecting Helmholtz RSD & Helmholtz Imaging Solutions
Helmholtz Imaging Solutions is a platform offering a comprehensive collection of resources – including algorithms, software, datasets, and protocols – to address common challenges throughout the entire imaging pipeline. It's a community-driven resource where Helmholtz imaging experts can register and share their tools.
As such, it shares many aspects with the Helmholtz Research Software Directory. Both platforms have served valuable resources for the Research Software Engineering community inside Helmholtz.
We're excited to announce a tighter integration between the Helmholtz Research Software Directory and Helmholtz Imaging Solutions.
What does this integration mean?
We are creating a two-way flow of information. Here is how it works:
- Software added to Helmholtz Imaging Solutions can now be automatically transferred to the Helmholtz RSD, meaning no more duplicate entry management
- A check box in the Maintainer view of Helmholtz Imaging Solutions indicates whether a software should also be listed in the Helmholtz RSD
- The Helmholtz RSD harvests the software entries from Helmholtz Imaging Solutions multiple times per day.
- Software imported into the Helmholtz RSD will automatically be listed in the new Helmholtz Imaging Solutions Community and tagged accordingly, making it easily findable
What´s planned
Our future plan is to complete the two-way approach: software entries maintained in the Helmholtz RSD will automatically be added to Helmholtz Imaging Solutions, if they are part of the Helmholtz Imaging Solutions community. We are planning to provide this feature this year.
We encourage all software maintainers in Helmholtz Imaging Solutions to utilise the new checkbox and help us build a more connected and efficient research landscape!
