Do not create output folders when no output is produced

Summary

Currently, an output folder is produced on every run of the tool, which is very annoying if there is no need for that.

Expected Behaviour

No empty output folders should be produced in the first place.

Observed Behaviour

A (possibly empty) output folder is produced on every run of the tool.

Steps to Reproduce

Start the tool with any valid analysis. When no plot file is produced, the output folder will be empty.

Additional Information

Suggested Solution would be to either generate these folders on first access or generally not produce any if the output format is not an image format. Alternatively on program shutdown the folder could be checked and deleted, if empty.
