All pages: Show animated "throbber" (spinning icon) while a page is being updated

On all apges: show an animated "throbber" (spinning icon) while a page is being updated, data is being filtered, the database is being queried etc.

The icon should be centered in the visible range of the window.

Meanwhile, the rest of the page should be faded out (partially transparent, less opacity? less contrast?)
