[new Terms] set, collection, aggregate

We need the class collection, and noticed that we are also using group, set and aggregate which have a semantically very similar meaning in the following classes:

  • human communy (HDO_00001018) definition "A group of persons which have a characteristic in common. "@en
  • technology (HDO_00001013) definition "A collection which includes various types of entities that increase the efficiency of a planned process or its range of effect."@en
  • tooling (HDO_00001016) definition "A collection of tools which is intended for a particular purpose."@en
  • vocabulary (HDO_00002008) definition "A collection of terms."@en
  • class (HDO_00001041) definition "A set, whose members have one or more attributes in common."@en

some initial thoughts:

  • collection, def. (DC) aggregation of ressources; Potentially circular - what is the proper superclass.

The terms could be similar but also slight differences might exists with respect to intention. Summary of initial discussion:

  • collection def. a group of objects
  • In a set is a collection things have a common characteristic, do not contain duplicates
  • aggregate things that coherently are "bonded" together
  • class
  • group

Questions: do we need to disambiguate them all? Could they be describes as continuants/dependent continuants (BFO)?
