[discussion] unit-related terms
state of discussion as of 13.09.22:
- old MR: https://gitlab.hzdr.de/hmc/hmc/cct-7-semantics/hmc-glossary-initialization/-/merge_requests/96
- anything can become a unit if used as one
- Pedro: any quantitative data can be a unit
- Leon: any quality of an entity can be a unit
- Pier: unit roles can't inhere in qualities
- Gerrit: for a unit there needs to be a specification of that unit
- Said: a unit is a meaning or interpretation of some quantity
- a unit in itself is maybe something like a standard?
- the unit of e.g. a number is additional information to that number
- suggestions:
- new definition of unit information: Information which designates the relation between a unit and quantitative data.
- comment: changing "identifies" to "designates" for improved understandability
- Gerrit: the "relation" is always a multiplication - to be discussed
- change the name "unit role" to "unit" (we use the term "unit" in the definition of "unit information")
- new definition of unit information: Information which designates the relation between a unit and quantitative data.
