Introducing new Category "Dataset"?

I could not find previous discussion on this. But there is JSON for a potential new category "Dataset" introduced here 2fb9d57c . I merged this into master together with 1.0.1 improvements, but am not clear if we want to make this part of our version 2.0 officially?
