JOSS review: paper notes
link to the JOSS review, I'll try to compile all my notes on the paper review here, organized by section. Overall it looks great.
Statement of need
In L12 you write that tree crown segmentation is essential for biomass estimation, yet there's plenty of studies estimating biomass without tree crown segmentation - do you mean individual tree biomass estimation? I suggest you clarify that or you soften the wording a bit (it can be useful, but not necessarily essential?)
As part of the same statement, in L13 you cite the FAO FRA 2022 report - but I could not find any references to tree crown segmentation in it, could you clarify?
Otherwise, great section, very concise and informative.
Library overview
Some great features here, I particularly like the focus on Active Learning!
Figure 1. I don't think you need to specify the formats for raster and vector data here (the software could potentially support several?) - but that's a stylistic preference, so feel free to ignore this comment if you disagree!
