Replacement of SSH Host Keys
Dear GitLab Users,
due to a misconfiguration during the creation of virtual machines we are required to replace the SSH host keys of the GitLab machine.
Once the SSH host keys are regenerated, interacting with your repository via SSH will fail (git clone | fetch | pull | push) with the message: Host key verification failed (or similar). Manual intervention from your side is necessary.
If you did not interact with any repository via SSH yet, no intervention is necessary.
To remove the old host key from your known_hosts file you can use the following command:
ssh-keygen -R gitlab.hzdr.de
ssh-keygen -R 149.220.4.191
After removing HZDR GitLab's host key you can retry interacting with gitlab.hzdr.de via git. You are probably asked to add a new host key to your known_hosts file. The public key fingerprint will be published in this issue.
If you need assistance, please contact us via the following issue: https://gitlab.hzdr.de/fwcc/HZDR-GitLab/issues/12
The replacement will be performed
