Links build from tags

I like the content description via tags / categories. But I just realized that the software builds the links from those categories: it was something like hifis.net/news/2022_04_22_research_fair.html and it turned in an ugly way too long thing like hifis.net/news/cloudservices/syncshare/upgrade/2022_3_21_whatever.html

Is there a way to force it to use only the first categorie or can we separate the "categorie" used for the link building (news, use case, announcement) from "content tags" as "cloud service", "Helmholtz AAI"?
