Should we prevent that user accidentially delete their preprocessing script if already existing?

I have a situation in mind, in which a user accidentally calls the init command after having worked for hours on a preprocessing script that is not yet under version control in that specific state.

At the moment it would be overriden without warning or asking for user confirmation.

Shall we implement such a confirmation prompt?
