Backup unhide data, develop strategy
Currently all the data of unhide is on the open stack volume, either as files, or in docker volume stored in the docker data directory on the volume. And no easy or direct restorable backup exists.
Possible ways: Backups in HDF-cloud:
- The volume can be backed up on the openstack instance via a volume snapshot. (For this the volume has to be detached from all containers, i.e unhide needs to be down.)
- The container instance can be backed up via an instance snapshot. It is preferable however to have an image of the instance saved or a 'VM file' to spawn a ready to use unhide VM instance.
External backups:
- One could create a continuous, daily/weekly/monthly backup on a other local system of all the unhide data and instances. for example by rsync the data file to a local storage, or to create an archive on the vm and sync these archives locally.
- For the indexes would would need to write the docker volumes to such backup files and also sync them locally.
