More complex GUI changes, mostly focused on window sizing

bottom banner end of the copyright statement is covered by the ‘return to top’ arrow - depends on window size -
Navigation between pages of terms With all terms (no filters), this shows 3 pages. When I first come onto the page by clicking Explore on the top navigatoin bar, and then scroll down to this section and go to Page 2 (either using the right arrow or number 2), it loads the second page but this navigation still has Page 1 highlighted. If i then click the right arrow again, it reloads page 2 but now Page 2 is correctly highlighted. After this, it all seems to work properly, it is only a problem the first time using the navigation after loading the page fresh. Same problem if I load the Explore page then click the Page 3 button - it loads page 3 but the navigation still shows Page 1 highlighted. I can then click the right arrow and it takes me to Page 2, so it’s still behaving like it’s on page 1.will be moved to separate issue by @oonagh.mannix -
licked on a term (‘Pole piece’) to see the full entry. As I don’t have my window maximised (so I can see this doc at the same time!) the width has caused the definition to be put below the left sidebar (with the letter/number filters), which was completely off the bottom of the screen, so I just saw the side bar and a blank space. Can this be set to scroll to the top of the entry, regardless of where it shows on the page? This does not happen with every entry, and does not seem to be related to the length of the term. It does also happen when clicking a letter/number that has no entries (so 9 or Z, for example) - the explanation that there are no entries appears under the sidebar. So it may nt be about scrolling, but instead stopping this behaviour on some pages.moved to #106 and #107 -
If I click on a definition, I can go to the Next and Previous terms, but can I get back to the filtered list I was on? I see now I can use the browser Back button. Didn’t realise it was reloading the whole page. Is it worth adding a Back option between the Next and Previous arrows?according to discussion this will not be further considered. -
It seems external links should open in a new tab, internal links change the tab you’re using. But there’s no way to tell which one a link is until you click on it. Common convention is for links that open a new tab to have a little double-square symbol next to them. I would consider adding this where relevent. It feels a bit odd to have two links in the same sentence sometimes, one opens a new tab and the other doesn’t but there’s no indication they are different. -
In a narrower window, the photos are warped. They keep the same width but stretch their height to match the text, which is now wrapping onto more lines. (Contributors page) - scale photos according to existing aspect ration and add a "filler" bar on top/bottom of the photo to match content -
he green text (Helmholtz-Zentrum, Universität, etc) when it’s left-aligned seems to have a space or something at the beginning, or the hanging indent is different. If the text wraps, the second line starts further left. When right-aligned, the wrapped lines here don’t end in the same place as the unwrapped ones either.moved to #108 -
The ORCID logo doesn’t always stay with the link when text wraps. Can non-breaking spaces be used on webpages?moved to #108
